How We Work

Our aim is to make the complex world of financial services clear, simple and perfectly tailored for you. We use a four-step process to develop your financial plans, which can be adapted to suit your personal needs:

  2. Bespoke Planning
  3. Implementation
  4. Review
The initial consultation and following bespoke plan are free, and create no commitment. Where a recommendation is made, or policy taken out following the creation of the bespoke plan, a fee may be chargeable.
Since November 2016, we have been sending questionnaires to our clients asking for feedback on the different elements of the service they received; as of September 2018, 100% of clients who completed the questionnaire said that they would recommend Amicus. 100% of clients also believed that the adviser had their best interests at heart – the factor that underpins all of our advice.

Step One: Understanding You

Our initial consultation is focused on finding out about you, reviewing your existing financial situation and understanding your needs. Your objective may be to save towards a specific purchase, invest wisely for your or your family’s future or to make your business more profitable. The better we know you, the more we can tailor our advice. The initial consultation – typically, a short face-to-face meeting – is also the opportunity for you to get to know us. After all, successful relationships have to be a two-way partnership! We make sure you understand our process: we can discuss the types of advice we give, how we are paid, our ongoing service proposition and how we are regulated along with any other questions you have at this stage. Rest assured, this consultation is completely confidential and your data is fully protected. We also only ask questions that you are comfortable to answer.

Step Two: The Bespoke Plan

Following our initial meeting, we carry out a needs analysis. Based on this, we provide you with a bespoke financial planning recommendation. This allows you to consider your options, with no obligation to proceed.

Step Three: Implementation

If you would like to continue working with us, we can agree the level of service you require and costs. We will discuss our fee structure very transparently with you from the first meeting. We have access to some of the best products in the market, thanks to our connection to the Quilter network, who help guide our fund recommendations. After we have made our proposal for the best financial solution for you, and you are happy with our recommendation, our job is to implement it in the most time efficient and cost effective way.

Step Four: Review

We don’t consider implementing a financial solution to be ‘job done’. We want to make sure the solutions we offer you continue to be the best to suit your needs, and offer an ongoing service proposition. Depending on the level of service you prefer, we will undertake a bi-annual or annual review of your financial plan, making sure it’s still appropriate for you. We also give ongoing advice on new products, and keep you up-to-date with important changes in legislation.

Our Network

Amicus is part of the Quilter network of financial advisers. Quilter is one of the largest networks of financial advisers in the country and offers a framework and support for financial advice. We are a restricted company, meaning we are able to recommend products from a panel of providers selected by Quilter. Quilter research and carry out the due diligence of each of these providers so that we can focus on client service.

We aim to provide an industry-leading, comprehensive service to our clients. In doing so, we adhere to the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) principles of ‘Treating Customers Fairly’, which means you can be confident we put your well-being at the heart of our business. Our processes and procedures follow the guidelines laid down by our support network – Quilter Financial Planning Limited, which is authorized and regulated by the FCA. We also abide by a number of laws, regulations and legislation, including The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) for financial security, The Data Protection Act (DPA) for confidentiality and our agreements are in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
